An Umuahia-based industrialist, Chief Ako Obioma, has denied that he was involved in shady contract deals during the administration of former Governor T A Orji, pointing out that none of the road contracts he secured under the past government was abandoned except those whose payments are yet to be completed.

Briefing journalists in Umuahia on Saturday, Obioma expressed worry that the son of the former governor, through a proxy, could lay unfounded allegations against him, saying that he has performed his numerous jobs as a contractor with due diligence.

“I have never borrowed money anywhere to work even when the monies are not paid to me by the government. I continued with my contract work believing that one day I’ll be paid, but unfortunately, the past government did not do so until it left office.
