Mr. Patrick Estate Onyedum, the Chairman Anambra State Sports Development Commission, yesterday paid a visit to the Anambra state contingent at the 8th edition of the National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta state’s capital. The Chairman expressed his satisfaction with the team’s remarkable performance, highlighting their team spirit and commendable achievements.
As in 17th September 2024, The Team Anambra has already secured an impressive tally of 9 Gold, 8 Silver, and 8 Bronze medals at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba. The Chairman, accompanied by other top officials from the commission, conveyed the state Governor’s strong support and appreciation for the contingent’s outstanding performance.
Onyedum said the secret behind the impressive performance of team Anambra is the Anambra Sports Solution Initiative (ANSSI) which gave birth to the primary and secondary school sports festival which was reintroduced in 2023 which an abundance of talents were discovered in the 2023 edition of the school sports festival and a number of them are present at the national youth games in Asaba.
Mr. Onyedum commended the athletes, coaching staff, and Sports Council members for making Anambra state proud, he assured them of the government’s continuous support to ensure an exceptional outing at the games. The chairman also acknowledged Governor Sloudo’s unwavering commitment to sports development and the welfare of the state contingent.
Expressing his pride in the team’s achievements, Mr. Onyedum emphasized Anambra state’s reputation as the light of the Nation state and encouraged everyone to reflect this spirit in their endeavors.
Mr. Olu Sule, Sports Consultant of Anambra State Sports Development Commission expressed gratitude to the sports Chairman for his visit and acknowledged Governor Soludo’s genuine interest in sports development. Olu Sule, speaking on behalf of the contingent, expressed their excitement at the Chairman’s presence, highlighting the morale boost it provided. The team assured that they would not disappoint the state at the Games.
With an impressive medal tally and unwavering support from the state government, Team Anambra continues to shine bright at the National Youth Games in Asaba.
