The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 2,629,025 voters will participate in the September 21 governorship election in Edo State.
This was revealed by INEC’s Supervising National Commissioner for Edo, Delta, and Cross River States, Prof. Rhoda Gumus, during the presentation of voter registers to political parties in Benin.
Gumus emphasized the need for a peaceful election, urging politicians and their supporters to eschew violence.
She assured that INEC is ready for the election and has put measures in place to ensure a seamless process.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Edo, Dr. Anugbum Onuoha, also announced that eligible voters can collect their PVCs at their wards’ registration centers from August 22 to 26, and later at the local government office of INEC from August 28 to September 8.
The Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council in Edo, Greg Igbinomwanhia, commended INEC for its efforts and urged political parties to shun violence, ensuring a peaceful and fair election.
