Sharing is caring

Super Eagles stuttering start to their world cup qualifier continued as they were held to another 1-1 draw by the Warriors of Zimbabwe in their second match of World Cup qualifiers in Rwanda on Sunday.

The pressure was on the Super Eagles as they needed a positive result after an underwhelming draw against Lesotho at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium last Thursday.

It was not the start they were looking for as Zimbabwe’s Musona scored the first goal of the match from a well taken free kick in the 26th minute of the match
.
Nigeria, playing with the likes of Victor Osimhen and Taiwo Awoniyi struggled to impose themselves on the game with Zimbabwe emerging the stronger side at half time.

However the equalizer came from the boots of Kelechi Iheanacho in the 67th minute of the game

Efforts for the Eagles to get the much needed second goal proved aborted as the Zimbabweans held on

The Eagles will have to play a total of 10 group games on the road to the World Cup to hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico.
The super Eagles will not be in action until June 2024 when they will play their next game
Nigeria is in Group C with South Africa, Benin, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Lesotho.

The winner of the group qualifies automatically for the world cup
