In a significant operational success, troops from the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army successfully dismantled a covert illegal oil bunkering site located in Umuedeokwara Community, Odogwa Town, within the Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The operation was executed based on credible intelligence regarding criminal activities at the site.

During a visit to the location, Major General Jamal Abdusalam, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 6 Division and Land Component Commander of Joint Task Force Operation DELTA SAFE, personally witnessed the shocking extent of the criminal activities taking place.

Speaking to the press, the GOC expressed his astonishment, stating that even aerial surveillance using helicopters or drones would not have fully revealed the magnitude of the illegalities present on the ground.

The discovered illegal oil bunkering site revealed numerous reservoirs, boilers, and an intricate network of pipes and cables. The scale of the operation was unprecedented, with a total of 19 reservoirs, each containing a minimum of 200,000 liters of crude oil. This amounts to over 3,000,000 liters in total.

Major General Abdusalam emphasized the Division’s commitment to ensuring that the Federal Government receives its rightful share from this operation, which will ultimately benefit the citizens.

He highlighted the significant impact of crude oil production on the nation’s economy, stating that any decline in production has far-reaching consequences.

This successful operation serves as a testament to the Nigerian Army’s dedication to protecting the nation’s resources and securing a prosperous future for all Nigerians.
