The disabling of Eye on Palestine’s Instagram account and its sudden disappearance from other platforms has sparked fury among users for not being able to access their content, but Mark Zuckerberg‘s company has cited a different reason for its removal.

The same social media account focusing on the violation of human rights was reportedly suspended on Instagram last year for not following “Community Guidelines on dangerous individuals and organisations.”

However, Meta says the reason for its suspension now has nothing to do with their content.

Meta spokesperson Andy Stone said in a statement: “These accounts were initially locked for security reasons after signs of compromise, and we’re working to make contact with the account owners to ensure they have access.”

Meta is reportedly trying to reach out to the owners of Eye of Palestine while an investigation into a possible breach is underway.

The ongoing Israel-Hamas war has wreaked havoc on the Gaza Strip, forcefully displacing millions of families and claiming hundreds of lives.

People elsewhere in the world have been counting on social media channels to learn about the situation, but there is a major setback with respect to receiving authentic information due to sporadic communication and power outages.

The fact that X and Facebook have removed Eye of Palentine from their respective platforms has left users extremely disappointed.
