Commuters in Lagos are in for a treat! Starting Monday, August 12, 2024, the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line will increase its daily trips from 54 to 72.
This means that travelers will be able to zip between Marina and Mile 2 in just 18 minutes, a whopping 7 minutes faster than before.
But that’s not all – the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) is also introducing a 25% discount for commuters who travel during off-peak hours, between 10am and 4pm daily.
This is great news for those who want to avoid the rush hour crowds and save some money on their fares.
According to LAMATA’s Managing Director, Engr. Abimbola Akinajo, the new schedule is designed to reduce journey times, encourage more people to use the train system, and cut transport spending. And with the Blue Line having already moved close to two million passengers since its launch on September 4, 2023, this is just the latest development in the city’s push to improve its public transportation.
The new schedule is set to take effect on Monday, and you can find the new timetables on the LAMATA website, stations, and social media handles.
