The University of Lagos (UNILAG) celebrated its 54th convocation ceremony today at the J.F Ade Ajayi Auditorium.
During the convocation ceremony, a unique story emerged as some graduates from the Class of 2021 faced the reality that their academic journey, originally planned for four years, took seven years to complete. Despite the additional years of studies, the graduating students showed resilience and determination, overcoming challenges and obstacles along the way. They remained steadfast and emerged victorious, ready to embark on the next phase of their lives.
One notable aspect of the convocation was the outstanding academic achievement of 379 students who graduated with first-class honors. Their commitment to academic excellence shone brightly, showcasing the dedication and hard work invested in their studies.
On social media, the graduating class found a platform to share their sentiments. X (Twitter user) @Simplyjoy encapsulated the essence of their extended journey, tweeting, “A Journey of 4 years rolled into 7. I’m grateful for scaling through UNILAG and coming out better, stronger, and smarter.
Apart from being a Biologist.” This tweet resonates with the sentiments of many who, despite the challenges, expressed gratitude for personal growth and success.
In contrast, @iteoluwakiishi took a lighthearted approach, bidding farewell with a touch of humor, “Class of 2021 Bye Unilag…You won’t be missed.”
During the convocation ceremony, the graduating classes found themselves at a pivotal moment between past challenges and future opportunities. Despite facing unconventional obstacles, they had shown great resilience and determination, ultimately triumphing over academic difficulties. UNILAG’s 54th convocation will undoubtedly remain a memorable event for these graduates as they begin a new chapter in their lives.
