Prof Chukwuma Soludo, Governor of Anambra State, has concluded plans to build a 10-storey hotel in Awka, the state capital to enable his dream of turning Anambra State into Dubai-Taiwan.
Hon Osita Onuko, The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), disclosed this to EwkeAnaedo at the weekend.
This was part of his administration’s efforts to catalyze the economic transformation of the state.
The Managing Director(ACTDA), who noted that the 10-storey hotel would be one of the signature projects of the Soludo Administration, said the construction of the hotel would commence in the first quarter of this year, with its foundation laying by the Governor Soludo.
Hon Osita maintained, that the project would not just be a physical structure but a strategic move to position Awka as a business, investment, and tourism hub.
He also said, the hotel would be an El-dorado in Anambra, complementing the Solution Fun City already being constructed in the capital territory, even as it would be offering world-class accommodations to visitors from various corners of the global world.
“He however, explained that the hotel, which would be known as the Awka International Convention Hotel, was envisioned to be a centerpiece in the economic revitalization of Anambra State to reflect Soludo’s commitment to fostering growth and attracting global attention to the state.
Onuko added, “It is going to be a brand hotel. It will herald the New Awka that we are planning for. The hotel is going to be a gateway for investors and tourists, as well as a destination for them in Awka.
“It will add value to Awka, what the Transcorp Hilton did for Abuja, because the Transcorp Hilton was built in Abuja when Abuja was all bush, but it came and catalyzed the economic development of Abuja. So will this hotel also do for Awka City”. He noted.
“As you can see, these dots are connecting. They are connecting and will keep connecting, to the point where we can say yes, this is the Awka of our dream.” he said.
He also said, Soludo as a strategic and forward-thinking administrator not only plan for today, but for the generation to come, as is evidenced in his administrative styles and strides towards realizing the central vision of making Anambra a livable and prosperous homeland”.
