Niyi Ijalaye, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ogun State, reportedly slumped in Abuja on Monday evening, leaving his condition uncertain.
Ijalaye had attended a meeting at the Independent National Electoral Commission headquarters, chaired by Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to discuss the off-cycle elections in Edo and Ondo States.
After the meeting, Ijalaye returned to his hotel room at the Bon Octagon Hotel in the Federal Capital Territory, where he suddenly collapsed.
The cause of his collapse and his current condition remain unclear.
Ijalaye, a native of Ondo State, was appointed as the Ogun State REC in March 2022, following the transfer of his predecessor, Olusegun Agbaje, to Lagos State.
The incident has raised concerns about his health and well-being.
