Onitsha – The community was plunged into mourning on Sunday as the remains of ABK Offiah, an aide to Anambra Commissioner for Youths Development, Patrick Aghamba, were brought back to Onitsha.
Offiah, a lawyer and youth leader, was killed by gunmen while traveling with Aghamba and his wife to Abuja.
The commissioner and his wife were kidnapped during the attack, but were released on Saturday night.
The circumstances of their release are unclear, with no confirmation on whether a ransom was paid.
Offiah’s death has sparked widespread grief in Onitsha, with residents wailing as his corpse arrived in an ambulance.
He held the traditional title of Kpajiego and was a respected member of the community.
