NLC President Ajaero Affirms Labour Movement’s Patriotism Amid Police Probe

Sharing is caring

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ajaero, has reaffirmed the labour movement’s unwavering patriotism, declaring that it is the most patriotic organization in the country.

He made this statement while addressing a gathering of labour members at the NLC headquarters, where he was welcomed back after being questioned by the police.

Ajaero emphasized the labour movement’s long-standing commitment to patriotism, dating back to the colonial era and through the military regime.

He described the movement as “worth dying for” due to its dedication to the nation.

The NLC leader was recently invited by the police to answer questions regarding alleged involvement in terrorism financing, cybercrime, subversion, criminal conspiracy, and treasonable felony.

Ajaero downplayed the incident, characterizing it as one of the challenges that come with being a labour leader.

He recalled his own experience of being detained during General Sani Abacha’s regime in the 1990s.

Ajaero expressed gratitude to the NLC members for their solidarity and support during this time. He was released from the police Intelligence Response Team headquarters after writing his statement, amidst accusations of harassment by the police.
