The Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU), Abia State, has established a feed mill, as part of its drives for revenue generation.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, told The Guardian that the mill would successfully feed its animals, while the excess would be sold, adding that it is also working hard on getting fish feeds internally to boost fish production.
According to him, the university’s Colleges of Animal Science and Animal Production (CASAP) and Crop and Soil Sciences (CCSS) are vigorously driving a level of animal and crop production in line with its vision.
Iwe, a professor of food science and technology, listed other internally generating ventures undertaken by the university, which included commercial production of water, bread, biscuits, with the factories growing exponentially.
He expressed appreciation to some organisations that have assisted the university in this regard namely – Yahaya Kansila Foundation, National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), PZ Cussions, Dr Chika Ikenga of Eunisells Company and BUA Group.
