Gunmen on Monday struck at Ohii Junction on the Owerri-Orlu Road in Imo State.
The attack left no fewer than four persons dead.
Sources said that two of the victims were policemen believed to be on duty in the area.
Following the incident, a recorded video of the attack was seen in social media platforms showing the lifeless bodies of the victims.
A Facebook user, Anyaeri Bright, who shared a video clip of the incident, confirmed that two policemen and two civilians allegedly lost their lives in the attack.
Our correspondent gathered that the fleeing gunmen opened fire at the junction, which claimed the lives of the victims.
In another development some Point of Sales operators were attacked and their monies were stolen in parts of Owerri on Monday.
It is however not clear whether both incidents are related.
