Gregory University Uturu To Employ Eight First Class Graduates

Gregory University, Uturu (GUU), Abia State, has offered to employ eight out of the 217 graduating students of the school, who made first class honours.

At the eighth convocation ceremony of the university recently, 217 students graduated from the school in various courses, including 19 pioneering medical doctors, who, at the ceremony, were inducted into the medical profession by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCAN).

The MDCAN was represented at the ceremony by its Executive Secretary, Dr Tajudeen Sanusi. The eight first class graduates, apart from the automatic job offer, were also given full scholarships to pursue their doctorate degrees in the University. The awardees included the overall best graduate, Eyamba Mighty Edim of Law Department, who scored 4.71 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).

Speaking at the ceremony, Gregory University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Augustine Uwakwe tasked the graduands to utilise the knowledge they acquired from the school to develop the larger Nigerian and global societies.

He said the university has not only signed teachers and scholars’ exchange agreements with American, Russian, Canadian, and Chinese universities, among others, but has also assumed a global outlook such that the United States (U.S.), Togo, Ukraine and Guinea Bissau nationals are now studying in the school.
