Ms Jedidiah Uche, A Radio Presenter, who was a lead vioce at a hybrid webinar organized by The National Association of Seadogs, Pyrates Confraternity, Awka Chapter, Anambra State, lamented that greed is one of the major problems of an average Nigerian today.
The Webinar entitled “Education a Means to Development” was organised to commemorate the 2024 International day of education.
Speaking during the event, she pointed out that some Nigerians hold certificates they could not defend which make them to become influence instead of influencers for positive change.
Ms Jedidiah, while emphasizing that skills one acquired should authenticate the certificates issued to the person, argued that those truly educated in character and learning should be job creators and develop the society rather than seeking for nonexistent white collar jobs in the country.
Pyrates Confraternity, at the webinar argued that education requires learning to acquire skills to become better rather than certificates and advocated for intensive learning to acquire relevant skills and capacities to deliver in whatever fields of endeavours”. She noted.
On his part, the moderator, Mr Emmanuel Udeh, while noting that education has key roles in updating people at all ramifications, posited that there are no educated people without something to offer.
Dr Vincent Onwughalu, added that education should be a driver for change, as it according to him, builds capacity to interrogate and proffer meaningful solutions at all times.
