The meeting, held in Cairo, sought to explore technical collaboration on port development, dredging projects, and security enhancement for the state’s waterways.
Governor Uzodimma highlighted the strategic importance of modernizing maritime infrastructure as a driver of economic progress. He pointed out that leveraging Egypt’s renowned expertise in canal operations and port management could transform Imo State into a leading maritime hub.
The governor stressed the potential of this partnership to streamline shipping operations, stimulate trade, and bolster waterway security in the region.
This initiative, with Egypt’s anticipated support for the Orashi River dredging project, promises to position Imo State as a vital contributor to the maritime industry in West Africa, fostering long-term economic benefits for the Southeast region of Nigeria.
