The Mayor of Dunukofia Local Government Area, Bar. Chijioke C. Ozumba on Wednesday, 4th December, 2024 hosted the Dunukofia Communities’ Youth Leaders, Lady Organisers, Team Coaches and Captains, in his office.
The meeting provided him a veritable opportunity to liase with the youth leaders of the various Committees under his jurisdiction ahead of the upcoming 2024 Dunukofia Championship. He charged them to present good and strong teams to represent the six (6) communities in the male and female football as well as volleyball tournaments.
Highlights of the meeting include; deliberation on the Championship modalities, revealing the attached prizes for each tournament totalling over six million naira (N6,000,000+), open match draws, distribution of players’ data/registration forms, issuing of the Championship rules among others.
Present in the meeting include; the Dunukofia Supervisory Councillor for Youth and Sports Development – Harrison A. Nwegwu, the Leader of Dunukofia Congress of Councillors – Hon. Chidimma Okeke, Members of Youth and Sports Committee, Members of Congress of Councilors, Anambra State Volleyball Coach – Okafor Uchenna, SA on Youth and Sports to the Mayor, – Immaculate Charisma, etcetra.
The upcoming Dunukofia Championship promises to feature the most ranking, outstanding and transparent Local Government-based Football and Volleyball competitions, sponsored by the Local Government Council and some illustrious sons of the Local Government Area.
The football and volleyball sports tournaments being organized by the Mayor would boost creativity, talents, fitness of the body and career search in sports.
We appreciate him for creating this opportunity for the youths which would enable the best teams benefit immensely if they maximize participation, synchronize and unite as teammates plus enable youths in general to interact and network across communities.
