A team from CoST, the United Kingdom based Infrastructure Transparency Initiative paid a strategic visit to Kaduna State Government yesterday.
Led by the Head, Members and Affiliate Programs, Evelyn Hernandez, the team gave insights into the vision, mission, programmes and activities of CoST.
They also commended the Kaduna State Government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, being the only CoST member state in Nigeria.
They promised to help facilitate infrastructure grants for the Kaduna State Government.
Governor Sani thanked the team for the visit and the training they are currently conducting for government officials, civil society organizations and contractors on infrastructure transparency, especially the procurement process.
He assured them of the State government’s commitment to transparency and accountability using technological tools.
He also revealed that Kaduna State Government, in collaboration with CoST, will:
(1) develop a 5-year action plan to enhance infrastructure accountability and transparency.
(2) provide technical support to ensure compliance with standards for infrastructure.
(3) create access to user friendly platform for information/data on infrastructural projects.
(4) promote learning, transfer and replication of knowledge and ideas from CoST members.
(5) create an integrated system to capture procurement processes to further promote transparency.
