Chief Victor Umeh, the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, is calling out the alleged fraudulent N136m judgement debt obtained against him by AMCON.
According to Chief Umeh, he wasn’t even served the suit and the trial took place without his knowledge. He explains that the bank held and managed the shares, and he didn’t receive anything. The shares are still with the bank.
In 2008, Skye Bank approached Chief Umeh to invest in their bank by purchasing shares. He contributed N8 million while the bank contributed N23 million, totaling about N31 million for 5,000,000 shares. The shares served as collateral, and his liability was limited to the shares purchased.
Chief Umeh believes that the forfeiture of the 5,000,000 shares should settle the whole transaction. He’s disappointed that AMCON didn’t present the truth in court.
Despite his lawyers’ efforts to obtain details of the judgement, they haven’t been successful. However, Chief Umeh remains hopeful that the “fraudulent judgment” will be set aside due to lack of fair hearing.
