The Government of Anambra State under the leadership of Gov. Chukwuma Soludo has organized a 3-day capacity building workshop for public financial management and sustainability.
The training, which involved staff from Ministries, Departments and Agencies was anchored in collaboration with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) of Nigeria.
In his opening remarks, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, defined capacity building as using the cognitive knowledge acquired in the tertiary institutions of learning to apply to the job requirements and building up special competence to tackle the work at hand for a better result.
Chukwulobelu also described a good finical management as one using the government financial regulations to apply through the processes of revenue generation, budgeting, and expenditure, so as to ensure proper value for money.
He emphasized that after the three days programme, the participants should be able to look inward as a way of self examination to identify their deficiencies and take steps to improve on them so as to increase their effectiveness and efficiency.
The SSG, stressed the need for on-the-job training and development of civil servants to make them more productive.
The Head of Service (HOS), Barr. Theodora Okwy Igwegbe, in her address thanked the co-organizers of the program (ACCA) for selecting staff of Anambra State Ministries, Department, and Agencies (MDAs) as beneficiaries of this invaluable training opportunity.
“It is a testament to your commitment to excellence and growth in the public sector. We are deeply grateful for the trust and confidence placed in us and for the opportunity given to some of our staff to participate in this training.”
She acknowledged and commended the relentless efforts of the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake for her dedication and the vital role she played in bringing the training workshop to fruition.
