NAFDAC Seals Abuja Warehouse Stocked With Expired Food Products

Sharing is caring

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut down a warehouse in Zone 4, Wuse, Abuja, found to contain significant quantities of expired and unregistered food items. During a raid conducted by the NAFDAC Investigation & Enforcement team, evidence suggested that the expired products were being prepared for illegal revalidation and subsequent sale.

The agency extended its operation to a nearby supermarket in Wuse 2, where some of these revalidated items were reportedly already on sale to unsuspecting customers. Both the warehouse and the supermarket were immediately closed for further investigation.

Confiscated items included brands like Cornitos Crusties Nacho, Chaunky Mango, Mother’s Recipe, Nacho Crisp, Paneer Makhani, Palak Paneer, and Dal Tadka. The total value of the seized goods is estimated at approximately 87.5 million naira.

In light of this incident, NAFDAC is advising consumers, particularly during the festive period, to be extra vigilant. Suspicious food products should be reported to the nearest NAFDAC office to ensure swift intervention.
