Anambra First Lady, Mr. Nonye Soludo has insisted that “August Meeting” is a time to lay emphasis on functional families through reflections on lessons on marital life, child upbringing and welfare of women and not just a period to prioritise fund raising and other monetary activities.
Speaking on the topic “The Role of Mothers In Modern Day Parenting”, Mrs Soludo who is also the founder of the non-governmental organization, “Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo” regretted the state of modern parenting in the modern society is alarming, a reason she has taken it as a responsibility to reorient women and the girl child in child upbringing so as to get it right.
She encouraged religious bodies to use the August meeting to reflect and preach healthy marital value in families instead of a period of financial unrest for women who will struggle to meet up with the different contributions and material competitions among themselves and stated categorically that child upbringing is a responsibility of both parents and not just for the wife.
The Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo Founder condemned early marriage and asked parents to allow their girl children to be of age and make enquiries about the family background of their spouses before giving them out in marriage.
She also warned against parents who curse and lay different forms of abuse on their children saying they impact the children’s psychological, mental and overall developments.
Other guests on the programme including the wife of the Bishop of the Diocese on the Niger, Dr Mrs Elsie Nwokolo, the Director of Catholic Women Organization, CWO, Awka Diocese, Lady Sabina Ndigwe and a Consultant Pediatrician, Dr Chioma Mbachu, in their different takes, asked women to show love, pay more attention and show more concern to the development of their children, among others.
