Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the Governor of Anambra State, recently inaugurated 12 kilometers of roads in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area. This is part of the 15 kilometers of roads awarded by the current administration.
The people of Okpoko were overjoyed and gathered at the road inauguration to show their appreciation to Governor Soludo. In his address, the Governor highlighted the historical significance of the Okpoko road, which had been lacking basic facilities like water, street lights, and a general hospital for around half a million people.
Governor Soludo expressed his commitment to the major urban regeneration agenda of his administration, acknowledging that the area had been severely affected by frequent flooding. He assured the people that his administration would continue to provide essential infrastructure such as water, street lights, and a good road network.
The Governor emphasized the importance of the Okpoko road, as it was the first place he visited after his inauguration. He noted that the poor condition of the Obodoukwu road had negatively impacted commercial activities in the area, causing significant delays for people traveling through that route.
Describing Okpoko as one of the largest urban slums in the South East, Governor Soludo expressed optimism that the newly commissioned road would stimulate the local economy and improve the lives of the people in the area. He also warned the contractor handling the Ogwuikpelle road to expedite work or face contract termination.
The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr. Somtochukwu Udeze, commended the timely completion of the roads.
