The Eastern Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has completed the migration to its new vending system, SuperEdge, and is now ready to offer meter upgrades to customers.
During the transition period, customers were unable to recharge their meters, but now they can conveniently purchase tokens and upgrade their meters.
According to Mr. Emeka Ezeh, the Head of Corporate Communications at EEDC, the first token purchase by customers will include the Key Change Tokens (KCTs) required for meter upgrades. Customers will need to enter three sets of 20-digit tokens into their meters to complete the upgrade.
Mr. Ezeh also advised customers to load any previously purchased tokens onto their meters before performing the meter upgrade, as the upgraded meters will no longer accept those tokens.
The prepaid meter upgrade is mandatory for all customers using STS compliant prepaid meters, and the upgrade should be completed by November 24, 2024.
