Street traders in Abakaliki street, Awka, have cried out over the destruction of their goods by Anambra authorities.

The traders were shocked at the massive destruction of their hard earned wares on Oby Okoli and Abakiliki Streets by the officials of Awka Capital Territory Development Agency (ACTDA).

Anambra state residents are still insisting that Soludo’s method of going about it was not the best way.

The said streets are currently witnessing constructions dualism and this was described as the main reason why street traders are being chased away from the area.

The destruction of the Traders wares was said to have been supervised by the Managing Director of ACTDA, Mr Ossy Onuko.

Ukamaka Ezinwanne a victim, who spoke of the destruction of wares said: “Unlike other times when they used to confiscate people’s goods, today’s own they confiscated and immediately set them ablaze.

“Soludo is heartless if he actually sent those people. We are complaining of hardship and how we can survive, and here, they are burning our goods. This is unfair.” she lament.

Some other trader who were also involved in the area who simply identified himself as Uzoamaka said: “They have been shooting guns here.

“I think Soludo does not know what this people are doing, because this was not what he promised us.”

“They are shameless people. Old women who are selling food condiments, they just destroyed their goods, and when people wanted to intervene, they started shooting”.
